Adele has confirmed that she is single after being romantically linked to grime artist Skepta.

The 32-year-old star jokingly called herself a “single cat lady” as she thanked fans for their support following her appearance on Saturday Night Live at the weekend, with the episode to air locally in Australia this Saturday night on Foxtel’s FOX8.

Sharing a photo of herself smiling while on the US comedy show, the singer also announced that she wouldn‘t be back in the public eye until next year.

She captioned the post: “Had the best time on SNL! Thank you to the most wonderful cast, crew, writers and producers.

“What a sublime bunch of people you are. Lorne thank you for believing in me! Lindsay my sister for life, Maya my comedy and Mama hero!

“Plus the so up for it audiences at both the dress rehearsal and live show! I did it for the joy of it and I hope you got some from it too!

“Good luck with the election America I love you so much. Look after each other and go easy on yourselves.”

Adele then made some casual revelations as she added: “Happy Halloween! I’m going back to my cave now to be the (single) cat lady that I am! Peace out til next year”

Her lengthy break will come as a disappointment to fans, who‘d hoped that her appearance on SNL was a hint that her much-anticipated new album would be released imminently.

Following her divorce from husband Simon Konecki last year, rumours have swirled that Adele is dating Skepta – with the pair spotted on a string of dates.

He also joined her for her birthday celebrations, and Adele introduced him to her long-term pal James Corden at the time.

Adele and Skepta first started speaking in 2016 after she tweeted a supportive message to him because they both reign from Tottenham – with the grime star admitting at the time it “was one of the sickest things ever”

The mother-of-one poked fun at her love life in a skit on Saturday Night Live, joking that she‘d sign up to Love Island or US series The Bachelor.

She told viewers: “Hi, I‘m Adele Adkins and I’m 32. You may know me for being the singer Adele.

“I‘m here because I’ve had a lot of heartbreak in my life – first at 19 and then, sort of famously, at 21 and then, even more famously, at 25,” she joked, referencing the titles of her first three albums.

“I have a really good feeling about [The Bachelor] Ben. It‘s only night one, but I can already tell he’s going to be the next love of my life.”
