Safeway, Albertsons: How to book a COVID-19 vaccine appointment

Safeway and Albertsons pharmacies across North Idaho are now offering walk-in COVID-19 vaccinations at six Panhandle locations.

Starting May 4, people interested in receiving their first or second dose can go directly to the in-store pharmacy and request the vaccine without needing an appointment.

All Safeway and Albertsons pharmacies are currently offering Pfizer, Moderna and the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

“Patients are encouraged to ask their pharmacist which vaccine is available, as it will vary per store location,” an Albertsons Companies news release said. “If the pharmacy location is not administering the patient’s requested vaccine, our pharmacists will work with the patient and direct them to a location that is administering their preferred vaccine.”

Those who only need a second dose can contact their pharmacy to set up an appointment at a pharmacy with the same vaccine as their first dose. Patients must bring their vaccine cards to their second dose appointment.

At the time of the first vaccination, Safeway or Albertsons pharmaceutical staff will automatically schedule the second dose appointment. Patients will also receive a 10%-off coupon for groceries after each dose.

Participating locations in the Panhandle region are:

Albertsons: 220 Ironwood Drive, Coeur d’Alene
Albertsons: 162 W. Prairie, Hayden
Safeway: 121 W. Neider Ave., Coeur d’Alene
Safeway: 1001 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene
Safeway: 702 N. Fifth Ave., Sandpoint
Safeway: 6519 Main St., Bonners Ferry

People can still schedule appointments for vaccines at Safeway and Albertsons.
