Hangover defense - proven tips to help with hangovers

A hard night of partying may leave quite a few great memories. But in the morning, it could also leave a bad hangover. Hangovers can be light to excruciating, depending on the amount of alcohol you had the night before. Having less alcohol in the first place may be the best way to avoid a bad hangover, but at times one tends to get carried away. So, if you have woken up with a very bad hangover the next day, the following tips will help you out.

Hydrate your body well

One of the biggest ill effects of alcohol is that it dehydrates your body a lot. This kind of dehydration is the prime reason for the bad hangover. Therefore, the most logical solution is to re-hydrate your body again. When you wake up in the morning, drink as much water as possible.

You can even have coconut water or lime water, in order to add some minerals and salt in your body. These are effective ways of hydrating the body and lessening the intensity of the hangover.

Eat something

If there is something that can worsen a hangover, it is an empty stomach. Owing to the hangover, you may not feel like eating anything at all. But, it is not a right move. When you eat, your blood sugar level stabilizes again and your stomach feels better. As a result, your hangover starts wearing off too. you can have a simple toast or some crackers. Alternatively, you can opt for veggies or even eggs. Make sure you keep the meal light though. Eating these will help to fill up your stomach, and make you feel much better.

Have vitamin C supplements

Your head might be throbbing due to the hangover. But do not opt for an aspirin or painkiller. It will be much more effective to opt for the good old vitamin C, whose antioxidant properties are great at reducing the effects of a hangover. Alternatively, you can even opt for a small helping of citrus fruit, which is rich in vitamin C. This vitamin reduces the ill effects of alcohol on the body and cleanses it.

Have Ginger tea

Hangovers will come with their share of bloating and vomit like sensations. This is what makes them even worse. A good antidote to that is ginger. Ginger is a well known treatment for nausea and it can help you feel much better. So, instead of your usual morning coffee have a hot cup of ginger tea. It will make a lot of difference.

Sleep it off

Hangovers tend to make your body and mind sluggish. This is because, the abuse caused by alcohol takes up a lot of your body’s energy to recuperate. Hence, you have the throbbing headache, the nausea like symptoms and an overall lack of energy. The best way to recover is to get as much sleep as possible. Give your body the rest it needs and the time to recover from the hangover. When you wake up, you will feel fresher than before.
