The Duchess and Prince William released the image yesterday to mark their son’s Christening in London, the day after official pictures taken by Matt Holyoak were released.
Prince Louis, just 11 weeks old, has grown a head of fine, light hair since his birth a couple of months ago and his eyes appear to be blue.
The informal shot comes from William and Kate’s batch of private photographs of the family celebration but they liked it so much, they decided to release it.
Kensington Palace tweeted: “The Duke and Duchess hope that everyone enjoys this lovely photograph of Prince Louis as much as they do.”
It was taken by Matt Porteous, who also photographed Prince George’s third birthday celebrations.
Mr Porteous, who was at Clarence House after Prince Louis was baptised at St James’s Palace last Monday, told the Daily Express: “It was an honour and a privilege.”
