Meghan Markle and Harry received a rapturous welcome from Royal Ascot as the Duchess made her debut at the races in Berkshire.

Harry was so besotted that he was unable to let go of Meghan’s hand for most of the day.

In one touching picture from the day, the Duke could not let go of Meghan’s hand and he was pictured stretching as he went to shake the hands of a winner.

The Duchess, who looked stunning in a stylish monochrome outfit by Givenchy, even received a kiss from Mr Dettori, who won on horse Without Parole.

Mr Detorri had just won the St James’s Palace Stakes when the jockey leaned in to kiss Meghan’s hand.

Prince Harry was then spotted wagging his finger at the jockey.

However, Mr Detorri has now revealed what sparked Prince Harry’s sudden reaction, telling Ladbrokes: “I told her my kids will be more excited about me meeting you than me winning the race, but then Harry started wagging his finger!”

Despite Mr Detorri apparent nonchalance, he actually did not break protocol with the kiss.

According to Royal Family’s website “there are no obligatory codes of behaviour when meeting The Queen or a member of the Royal Family”.

Although it is usually expected men will bow from the neck down, while women will curtsy.

Meghan and Harry appeared attached at the hip as they stayed close together throughout the day.

In one touching picture from the day, Harry was so besotted that he was unable to let go of Meghan’s hand as went to shake the hands of a winner.

Arriving in the Parade Ring for the St James’ Palace Stakes presentation, Harry grasped Meghan’s hand tightly as he led the way.

Other pictures from Ascot’s first day show Meghan with her arm looped through Harry’s and the pair holding hands after they arrived by carriage to the spectacular event.

The Duke of Sussex also appeared to be showing his new wife the ropes as he showed her the programme and was later photographed explaining how the presentation process works.

Meghan looked stunning in a stylish monochrome outfit by her favourite designer, Givenchy, teamed with a Philip Treacy hat, while Harry was dressed in black morning suit with a sky blue waistcoat and top hat.
