Sally Osman, the Royal Director of Communications, who was previously a communications head at the BBC, Sony and Sky, is departing the Palace.
Ms Osman is one of many staff members who have left in what appears to be a period of reshuffles in Royal staffing.
The Daily Mail also reported the 57-year-old faced a “difficult time” during her time for Palace PR.
It is understood this surrounded the intense media scrutiny surrounding the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Ms Osman took the job of Communications Secretary for the Prince of Wales at Clarence House at Buckingham Palace on a six-figure salary back in 2013.
She then took on a job that required organising the different media departments in Buckingham Palace, Kensington Palace and Clarence House.
In addition to losing one of her key staff members, a Buckingham Palace source recently revealed the Queen is refusing to have surgery on her knees.
An insider familiar with the matter insisted the monarch’s legs have been “playing up”.
They said: “She was talking to friends at the Chelsea Flower Show and said her knees were playing up.
“But she is reluctant to have an op due to the time it would take to recover. She is incredibly brave.
“People from her and Philip’s generation battle through problems and carry on.
“And Her Majesty doesn’t like to cause any fuss.”
The source added the Queen finds it difficult to stand up after sitting.
Elizabeth II engages in over 200 Royal events and visits a year.
Such a busy schedule surely worsens the Queen’s leg pain.
In May the Royal had a cataract removed and wore dark glasses to avoid drawing attention to the surgery.
The Queen continued to carry out her Royal engagements following the operation.
