Her Majesty, 92, has reportedly been suffering from worsening knee pains, but doesn’t want to make a fuss.

The Queen has also said she struggles to stand up after sitting, according to a Palace insider.

The monarch has an incredibly busy schedule and still carries out more than 200 royal engagements and visits a year.

But even though her packed schedule is taking a toll on her knees, the Queen doesn’t want to take any time off and miss any engagements.

A Palace source told The Sun: “She was talking to friends at the Chelsea Flower Show and said her knees were playing up.

“But she is reluctant to have an op due to the time it would take to recover. She is incredibly brave.

“People from her and Philip’s generation battle through problems and carry on. And Her Majesty doesn’t like to cause any fuss.”

In May, the Queen had successful surgery to remove a cataract, but chose to wear dark glasses instead of cancelling her engagements.

And the Queen made nine public appearances in ten days before she was missed a ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral on Thursday because she was feeling “under the weather”.

She was due to make an appearance at a service commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Order of St Michael and St George.

A Buckingham Palace spokesman said: “The Queen is feeling under the weather today and has decided not to attend this morning’s service at St Paul’s Cathedral marking the 200th anniversary of the Order of St Michael and St George.”

The monarch rested at Windsor Castle and is due to travel to Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh today for a week jam-packed with more events.

The Queen is also expected to attend the christening of Prince Louis – Kate and Prince William’s youngest child – on July 9.

In 2003, she had an operation on her right knee after damaging cartilage when she fell over at Newmarket racecourse.

And a few months later, she had keyhole surgery to remove torn cartilage from her left knee.

Last year, the Queen carried out 296 engagements.
