Next Thursday, the two-year-old will visit the Nynäs nature reserve in his duchy Södermanland, on the south eastern coast of Sweden.

Alexander will be accompanied by his parents, Sofia and Philip, who will meet royal fans and enjoy a series of outdoor activities as a family.

It is not uncommon for Swedish royals to start attending royal engagements early on in their life.

Alexander’s cousins, six-year-old Princess Estelle – daughter of Crown Princess Victoria – and Princess Leonore, four, Princess Madeleine’s daughter, both started their royal duties when they were only two years old.

In June 2016, Leonore, the Duchess of Gotland, was overjoyed when she visited her duchy Gotland and was seen frolicking around on a horse farm as she sprinted through fields of grass.

Her cousin Estelle, Duchess of Östergötland was very well behaved when she visited Östergötland, greeting members of the public as she smiled at crowds of royal fans.

The British Royal Family have also started attending engagements at a very young age.

Prince George visited the Royal International Air Tattoo in Gloucestershire when he was just two-years-old.

The prince, who is third-in-line to the throne could not contain his excitement upon seeing the giant aircraft and was even heard asking his mother, Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge whether he could fly the plane.

He told his mother: “Mummy, can I fly the Red Arrow now?” while his father, Prince William gently replied: “Not right now.”

In April 2014, the future King was only 8-months-old when he attended his very first public engagement in New Zealand.

George went to a children’s party held in honour of his Australia and New Zealand tour with parents, Kate and William.

The young prince met children from ten other families, and according to one of the guests, George was “quite a bruiser” and was very well mannered throughout the event.

However, he did kick up a fuss with a little girl called Paige, who cried after George grabbed her wooden toy doll.

Five-year-old George will soon return back to school at Thomas’s Battersea in London, after his long summer holiday.

The royal is due to start school again on September 6 but unlike last year, both Kate and William might both escort their young son to school.

Last year, the Duchess of Cambridge was ill with acute morning sickness as she was pregnant Prince Louis, and did not attend George’s first day of school.

However, William was right by the prince’s side as he bravely walked into the school building for the very first time.

Ben Thomas, former headmaster of Thomas’s Battersea said: “Our aim for him (George), as well as for all of our pupils, is to provide a safe and secure and happy environment where he feels supported by a kind and loving community.

“That’s something we will be trying to achieve for him.”
