She was joined by Prince Charles and Princess Anne for the outing at the Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park in Braemar.

The trio were photographed sharing a joke as they sat down together.

The Queen looked smart in a blue coat and matching hat for the games.

And Prince Charles opted for a traditional kilt for the occasion.

The Braemar Gathering takes place every year on the first Saturday of September.

Queen Victoria visited the event in 1848 and since then the monarch and members of the royal family have regularly attended.

It comes as the Queen is on her annual summer holiday at Balmoral in Aberdeenshire.
