Eugenie’s father the Duke of York has revealed Mr Brooksbank, 32, will not get the vacant Earl of Northallerton title and will be known as HRH Princess Eugenie, Mrs James Brooksbank.
The future royal was rumoured to be awarded the earl title after the wedding. However, a spokesman for the Duke said this was not the case.
But friends of Eugenie, 28, told the Mail on Sunday the princess was not bothered by the decision.
A source said: “Eugenie couldn’t care less about titles and is perfectly happy to be Mrs Brooksbank.”
The young royal is continuing preparations for the October nuptials and this week confirmed the latest plans for the occasion.
The pair are to marry in a lavish ceremony in Windsor Castle.
And, using her Instagram account, Eugenie revealed a royal ballot for those wanting to join in the occasion.
She posted two photos of her and her future husband.
While Meghan and Harry invited 2,640 people into the grounds of the castle for their wedding, Eugenie’s celebration will see a mere 1,200 members of the public invited.
Those in the grounds will be acle to listen to a live broadcast of the service before watching the couple leave the castle.
The palace wrote: “Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank would like to invite members of the public to join their wedding on 12 October 2018, to attend inside the Precincts of Windsor Castle.
Members of the public who would like to attend can fill in an application form (for more information see the link in our bio on our profile page).
“1,200 members of the public will be able to view the arrival of the congregation and Members of the Royal Family, listen to a live broadcast of the Marriage Service and watch the start of the procession as the couple depart at the end of the Wedding ceremony.”
The public can apply for tickets on the Royal UK website, but must be over five years old and living in the UK.
Meanwhile, Eugenie’s mother Sarah Ferguson is to take a lead role at the Royal Wedding, according to one commentator.
Richard Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: “Sarah Ferguson’s style was never low key and this is her opportunity to shine.”
The Royal Wedding will take place on October 12.
