The official portraits from the christening of Prince Louis have been released by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to mark the milestone for their third child.

The youngest Prince of Cambridge was baptised at the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace on Monday, July 9.

The afternoon ceremony was attended by various members of the Royal Family, with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall among the royal guests in attendance.

Prince Louis wore a replica of the gown commissioned by Queen Victoria for her daughter, Victoria in 1841 which was made of white Honiton point lace and white satin.

The two-month old was born on April 23, 2018 and christened by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby.

Who took the christening pictures?

British photographer Matt Holyoak took the four official images released by the duke and duchess.

The photographs were taken in the Morning Room and garden at Clarence House after Louis was baptised last Monday.

Mr Holyoak said: “I was truly honoured at being asked to take the official photographs at the christening of Prince Louis, and to witness at first hand such a happy event.

“Everyone was so relaxed and in such good spirits, it was an absolute pleasure.

“In only hope I have captured some of that joy in my photographs.”

The photographer has worked with a host of celebrities and his photos have regularly been splashed on the covers of magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, Shortlist and Dazed and Confused.

He is not new to working with the royals, as he photographed the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh as part of a series of portraits released to mark their 70th wedding anniversary.

Holyoak works for Camera Press which celebrated its 70th anniversary the same year the Queen and Prince Philip celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary.

The agency’s first assignment was to distribute the royal pair’s official wedding photos.

Along with the royals, Mr Holyoak has photographed high-profile celebrities including Ryan Reynolds, Orlando Bloom, Gillian Anderson, Jennifer Lawson, Jamie Foxx and Kanye West.

His official website says: ³Matt has established himself as one of the world’s leading celebrity portrait photographers.

“His love of portraiture started at Art College, where he studied to be a fine artist, specialising in contemporary portrait painting and drawing.

“He then discovered his passion for photography and perfected his craft working in still life, fashion and portraiture; assisting some of the most revered photographers of our times.”

Mr Holyoak has had numerous pieces of his work acquired by The National Portrait Galley for their permanent collection and has donated photographic prints to many exhibitions across the world.

He has shot powerful campaigns for charity, including Cancer Research, the Haiti ‘Are You Here’ campaign and Mental Health campaign ‘I Swear’.
