Prince Louis’s christening was immortalised in some beautiful snaps shot by two photographers.
The photos taken by Matt Holyoak were the four official family portraits, released on Sunday amid the admiration of the royal fans.
But another photographer, Matt Porteous, took pictures meant to be just for the family’s private use.
Among them there was the first-ever snap showing the little Cambridge laughing, which left the whole world swooning.
But, despite being intended to be for private eyes only, this picture was so adorable Kate and Prince William decided to share it with the public.
Upon releasing it on Monday, Kensington Palace wrote on Twitter: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released an additional photograph taken following the christening of Prince Louis.
“The Duke and Duchess hope that everyone enjoys this lovely photograph of Prince Louis as much as they do.”
The cute picture was taken at the private party that took place after the christening in the gardens of Clarence House, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall’s London residence.
There, guests were served slices from a tier of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s 2011 wedding cake.
Mr Porteous, who photographed Prince George when he turned three in 2016, took to Instagram to thank everyone who showed appreciation for the snap.
He wrote on an Instagram Story: “Overwhelmed by the love and support, an image that has touched so many hearts, thank you for all the comments and support.
“It is a true honour to capture such a beautiful moment in time.”
He also shared the picture on an Instagram post, adding: “Moments like these. ‘It was an honour and a privilege to photograph the christening of Prince Louis.’”
Royal fans welcomed the unexpected snap with joy.
Liz Steven wrote on Twitter: “Just adorable. The perfect mother and child photo that anyone would wish for on such an occasion.”
Another Twitter user added: “OMG that is the cutest photograph.. Prince Louis is adorable. Doesn’t Catherine look glowing..”
And Jenna said: “Aw he is gorgeous. All their children are.
“But what a well captured picture of love and happiness.
“Something always to cherish.
“It’s lovely to see a baby smile without a care in the world.
“Is it just me or does anyone else smile when they see a baby with a big smile like this?”
The private ceremony took place on July 9 at Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace in London.
Price Louis was christened with water from the River Jordan, thought to be the same holy water used to baptise Jesus Christ.
