The Prince of Wales blessed the Duchess of Sussex with the nickname “Tungsten”, which is one of the hardest metals known to man.
A source close to Buckingham Palace revealed while it might not seem like the most complimentary of nicknames, Prince Charles appreciates Meghan for being a good influence on her husband Prince Harry.
The Royal expert told the Mail on Sunday: “Prince Charles admires Meghan for her strength and the backbone she gives Harry, who needs a tungsten-type figure in his life as he can be a bit of a softy.
“It’s become a term of endearment.”
It is no secret Meghan Markle and Prince Charles share a special relationship, especially after May 19 when the Prince of Wales stepped in to walk the Duchess of Sussex down the aisle at her wedding to Prince Harry.
It is understood the Prince of Wales was “terribly touched” to have been asked by Meghan to replace her biological father, Thomas Markle, who could not attend the nuptials due to heart problems.
It has also been claimed the Duchess encouraged Harry to bond more with his father.
It is believed Meghan “made it clear” Harry should invest in his relationship with Charles, who is heir apparent to the British throne.
A source said: “Meghan met Charles and was bowled over by his charm.
“She told Harry he was wonderful: welcoming, warm, hard-working, kind and stable.
“She made it clear that he should appreciate him and bond more.”
Charles is also said to have praised Meghan in conversation with friends.
He reportedly told friends: “She is so intelligent and so nice.
“She makes Harry happy.
“We could not like her more.”
