Mr Markle said he wants to fly to the UK to make peace with his daughter after scooping a small fortune from staging fake paparazzi pictures in the run-up to Meghan’s Windsor nuptials.

Just days before he was meant to walk his former actress daughter, 36, down the aisle he was found to be part of a paparazzi scandal where he staged pictures for publicity.

He then suffered a heart attack and underwent surgery meaning he was too unwell to travel to the wedding.

Though reclusive Mr Markle, who has given an array of television interviews since, soon said he did not attend because he did not want to embarrass Meghan.

Now he plans to make a valiant attempt to win back his daughter’s heart by flying to London without a royal appointment. He spoke of his fear of being frozen out of the royal family.

He said: “If I chose in a month, or couple of months, to go to England, I want to see my daughter. I’m thinking about it.

“I don’t care whether she is p***** off at me or not.

“I’m not going to wave flags and make a fool of myself.

“I’d find a hotel room and try to reach them.”

Speaking from his home in Rosarito, Mexico, he blamed his actions for putting an apparent strain on his relationship with Meghan.

He continued: “It’s sad that it’s got to this point.

“I’m sorry it’s come to this. Yes, some of it is my fault.

“But I’ve already made it clear that I’m paying for this for the rest of my life.”

Mr Markle already has an agenda planned for the trip that includes meeting the Queen.

He said: “If she’ll meet Donald Trump, why not me?”

He went on to say how the royal family should respect him as Meghan’s dad.

He added: “I’d like to be treated by the Royal Family like Meghan’s father.

“I should be regarded with the respect of any other father of the bride.”

Mr Markle also said the number he used to seek briefly with Meghan and his new son-in-law Harry after the wedding is “no longer picking up”.

He also said Kensington Palace is not replying to his texts.

Mr Markle said: “It is probably the longest time I have gone without speaking to her ever.

“I just want to clear the air and tell her how proud I am of her.”

He added: “If I had one message for her it would be that I’m sorry for anything that went wrong.

“I’d like to put our differences behind us and get together.”
