The Duchess of Sussex’s friend said Ms Ragland, 62, may be the one to “talk some sense” into her ex-husband Thomas Markle during Meghan’s upcoming solo visit to her native California.
The source told how “in a perfect world” the former Suits across would like to reunite with her father, but fears he will “blab about it to the world”.
Meghan Markle’s friend said the duchess “is now open to the possibility of her mom working some magic behind the scenes”.
The source told the Mail Online: “So far, Meghan’s mom hasn’t gotten involved, but that may all change when they see each other in person.
“Meghan has been adamant that her mom not get dragged into all the drama.
“But if anyone can talk some sense into her dad, it’s Doria.
“Meghan is now open to the possibility of her mom working some magic behind the scenes.”
The Duchess, 37, is expected to travel to New York first before heading to her hometown of Los Angeles.
Her solo visit will come before she embarks on her first royal tour to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and the Kingdom of Tonga in October alongside husband Prince Harry.
The source told how 74-year-old retired lighting director Mr Markle has “embarrassed” Meghan by continuing to slate the Royal Family she is now part of.
The source added: “The more he blasts the royal family, the more she wants to stay away.”
Meghan and her father have reportedly not spoken since before her Royal Wedding to Prince Harry in May, after he was forced to pull out of walking her down the aisle due to surgery complications.
Since then Mr Markle has given a series of explosive interviews where he has blasted his daughter and the Royal Family, comparing them to a cult.
It comes after Meghan’s half-brother and Mr Markle’s son Thomas Markle Jr hit out at the royals and questioned why the Markle family hasn’t been looked after like Kate the Duchess of Cambridge’s family were.
Thomas Jr said Meghan should reach out to her father before it is too late.
He added: “Meghan’s capable of doing anything, she’s just got to want to do it.
“If she wants to make amends, by all means, she can do that, but she’s got to want to do it.”
