Brides are looking for the “bateau neckline” of the Duchess of Sussex’s Givenchy dress which has become incredibly popular since two months ago.
According to the owner of The Blewcoat in Westminster, Ian Stuart, brides are also looking for “very, very long veils”, like Markle’s five-metre-long creation by British fashion designer Clare Waight Keller.
Mr Stuart said: “Most brides were not keen on the simple, plain silk dress.
“Most brides still want a bit of sparkle.”
Mr Stuart opened his shop in 2002.
He has finished filming for a Channel 4 documentary-soap called The Posh Frock Shop.
The programme is set in his store in the National Trust-owned Blewcoat school.
Each episode tells the story of one customer buying a gown from his collection.
Mr Stuart said: “We have everyone in our store.
“No matter who you are, what shape, size or age you are we welcome you here.
“We had a transgender couple come in and the show was about their background and aimed to educate people who didn’t know much about the LGBT+ community.”
Meghan Markle wore a green dress during her visit to Ireland.
Surprisingly the dress was from designer Emilia Wickstead, who reportedly criticised Meghan’s Givenchy wedding dress.
The British designer, who is a favourite of Kate Middleton, made headlines after the Royal Wedding when the Daily Mail reported Emilia’s slightly critical comments.
According to the Daily Mail, the 34-year-old designer allegedly said: “Her dress is identical to one of our dresses.
“Apparently a lot of commentators were saying, ‘It’s an Emilia Wickstead dress’.”
