The intimate image was unearthed by a Meghan Markle fan club and shared on Instagram, giving a rare insight into what the Duchess of Sussex used to do when she was off-duty.
In the photo, Meghan, 37, is is dressed in pyjamas with her hair tied back in a messy bun and with a face fresh and make-up free as she watches TV with her goddaughter Rylan Litt, who is dressed as a pink fairy.
The fan account, which boasts 29,000 followers, was called @harrysmegri and they uploaded the sweet snap onto social media with the caption: “Sharing cause this photo is so darn adorable.”
The fan signs the image off with the hashtags #meghanmarkle #babyfairyprincess and #duchessofsussex as well as two love emojis.
The image is believed to have been taken at Christmas 2016 when the former Suits actress spent the holiday season with the Litt family.
Less than a year later in November 2017, Meghan and Prince Harry announced their engagement to the world and another six months after that in May 2018, little Rylan, now seven, went on to become one of her flower girl.
The schoolgirl, whose mother is Benita Litt and a close friend of Meghan’s, was catapulted into the world spotlight when she was featured sitting next to Harry in a now-iconic portrait of the newlyweds.
This details a very different scene compared with the cosy image shared on Instagram.
Last week, the American marked 100 days as the Duchess of Sussex on August 25.
She hit the ground running after tying the knot with Prince Harry, 33, in a lavish Windsor ceremony watched by millions and got to work as a royal just days after the royal wedding.
Meghan has continued to adjust to public life despite the deteriorating relationship with her father Thomas Markle, who was exposed for staging pictures with the paparazzi days before she married Prince Harry.
Images of Mr Markle, 74, seemingly working out in the run-up to the wedding, reading up on the royals and being fitted for a suit warmed the hearts of millions of Britons eager to see him walk his American beauty of a daughter down the aisle.
Mr Markle pulled out of the wedding, leaving Prince Charles to stand in as his replacement.
A series of interviews followed that saw the former recluse reach out to his daughter.
