Meghan Markle has reportedly not said a word to her father after he staged paparazzi pictures prior to her wedding to Prince Harry in May.
Mr Markle did not attend the Royal Wedding due to his health issues and has given a series of explosive interviews with Kensington Palace so far, refusing to comment.
Princess Diana’s former butler Mr Burrell said “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree” with regards to Prince Harry’s relationship with Thomas Markle.
Speaking to new! magazine, he said: “I’ve been in similar situations where people said things about Princess Diana, and the way she dealt with it was by freezing them out.
“It looks as if Harry has taken a leaf out of his mother’s book. Diana said, “Once someone burns the bridge of trust towards you it’s very hard to repair it.”
Talking of his former boss Princess Diana, he said: “She would be furious if someone betrayed her and the only way she could deal with it is to cut them off completely.”
Princess Diana’s former butler also said that life is not going to be easy for Meghan as she rides the Royal Family wave but he said the Duchess of Sussex at least has a man who “adores her”.
Mr Burrell served as Diana’s butler and as a member of her household for 10 years before her death in 1997.
Meghan is said to be planning a visit to the United States where it is thought she will see her mother Doria Ragland before her next royal engagement in September.
The LA trip could provide an opportunity for the Duchess, 37, to heal the rift between her and her 74-year-old father after months of not talking.
He lives in Roasarito in Mexico, which is just 150 miles away from Ms Ragland’s home.
The retired Hollywood lighting director has been stirring up a storm recently, calling the Royal Family “cult like” and comparing them to the Church of Scientology.
