The Duchess of Sussex has adjusting nicely into royal life after marrying Prince Harry in May.
The Queen, Kate, Camilla and brother-in-law, Prince William have all taken a liking to Meghan, and are often seen laughing and joking with the Duchess during royal engagements.
Meghan has also bonded with one unlikely royal, but it is not who you might think.
The Duchess has been spotted spending a lot of time with her father-in-law Prince Charles, and the pair are known to have a “loving relationship”, a source told Vanity Fair.
Charles’ decision to walk Meghan down the aisle brought a special bond to their relationship, and marked a turning point which brought them closer than ever.
A source told Vanity Fair: “Charles showed so much love towards Harry and Meghan, and I think Harry will be eternally grateful to his papa for stepping in and giving Meghan’s hand in marriage.
“The bond between them is very close.”
Over the summer, Charles, Meghan and Harry were seen spending a lot of time together, and were spotted dining, reading and taking long walks.
Charles has great respect for Meghan, saying she is the “best thing to have happened to Harry”.
The source added: “Charles has been very supportive of Meghan and everything she is going through with her own father.
“He’s got a real soft spot for her and thinks she’s the best thing to have happened to Harry.”
Meghan and Harry will embark on a 16-day tour of Australia tour next month, and are set to visit Sydney, Melbourne, Dubbo and Fraser Island.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be hosting the Invictus Games in Sydney, founded by Harry himself, where injured and ill veterans compete in a riveting international sporting event.
The Invictus Games opening ceremony will commence on the 20th of October.
The royals are also set to visit Fiji and Tonga after their Australian tour.
They will be meeting with community groups focusing on employment, training and young people and help boost existing campaigns in Australia such as wildlife conservation.
A spokesperson for Kensington Palace said: “The programme across these four Commonwealth countries will focus on youth leadership, environmental and conservation efforts — including the dedication of several new Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy projects — and the recovery and rehabilitation of servicemen and women through the Invictus Games Sydney 2018.”
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said he looked forward to welcoming Prince Harry and Meghan next month.
He said: “Their visit will be an opportunity to promote the incredible achievements of Invictus athletes from around the world, and showcase Australian programmes promoting youth leadership, environmental and conservation efforts.”
