Mr Markle has taken a liking to the press, repeatedly revealing details about the Duchess of Sussex’s life, leading her to abruptly cut contact with her father.
Meghan has not spoken to her dad fearing following his recent media antics that left their relationship on the rocks, US media is claiming.
A source told Us Weekly: “Meghan is so upset over Thomas. She’s upset for a couple of reasons.
“She doesn’t even know how to communicate with her dad without knowing he won’t exploit her.
“She lives in fear that he’ll leak their communication. If he’s spoken this much already, why wouldn’t he leak their conversation?”
Growing up in Los Angeles, Meghan was close to her father.
Speaking to Us Weekly, the source added: “She would like to speak to him, but there is no trust there anymore.
“And it doesn’t seem like it could ever be rebuilt. The damage is done.
“She has no other choice but to ignore him.”
Mr Markle, 73, caught headlines when he told the Sun on Sunday that the Duchess was “terrified” by the pressure of being part of the royal family.
He said: “My thing about my daughter right now is that I think she is terrified. I see it in her eyes, I see it in her face and I see it in her smile.
“I’ve seen her smile for years. I know her smile.I don’t like the one I’m seeing now.
“This one isn’t even a stage smile — this is a pained smile.”
He added while it’s possible she “might be just having a couple bad days,” he worries “she’s under too much pressure”.
He said: “There’s a high price to pay to be married to that family.
Mr Markle’s relationship with the media begin prior to the Royal Wedding, when he staged a series of paparazzi photos.
The 73-year-old declared that he would not stop talking to the media until he is allowed into Meghan’s life.
Speaking to TMZ earlier this week, he said: ‘”I was silent for a full year and the press beat me up every day saying I was a hermit hiding in Mexico, so I gave my story.
“Apparently that interview put the royal family in their silence mode… so, I gave another interview to break the silence. All they have to do is speak to me.”
Meghan’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, has also taken to the media, repeatedly lashing out at the Duchess for not speaking to her father.
Speaking about Meghan and Harry’s appearance at the Nelson Mandela centenary exhibition in London, the 53-year-old wrote on Twitter: “How about you pay tribute to your own father?! Enough is enough.
“Act like a humanitarian, act like a woman. If our father dies, it’s on you Meg.”
