The occasion is set to strengthen the Duchess of Sussex’s growing relationship with her grandmother-in-law, who honoured her by inviting her on an overnight royal train rip to Cheshire last month.
The roaring aircraft formation passed over Buckingham palace just after 1pm and is made up of the most varied range of RAF aircraft in aerial formation since the coronation of the Queen in 1953.
Meghan, 36, was earlier pictured alongside her new husband Prince Harry at a Westminster Abbey service to kick start the RAF’s anniversary celebrations.
The Duchess of Sussex wore a dress by Dior and hat by royal milliner Stephen Jones as she held onto her husband’s arm.
Inside the Abbey, Prince Harry was spotted cracking a joke with Prince Andrew as the Duchess of Sussex beamed at her husband as she attempted to contain her laughter.
Meghan and Prince Harry, 33, shared a touching moment inside the Abbey with the newlyweds seen smiling and gazing each other before the service began.
Their appearance comes just hour before Meghan and Harry travel to Ireland for their first official royal tour as a married couple.
The duchess, who stunned in an off the shoulder dark navy dress, bespoke fascinator and nude heels, held on tight to Harry, who was wearing his No1 RAF uniform.
It comes after Meghan made her debut appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace last month for Trooping the Colour to mark the Queen’s official birthday.
