Princes Charles will be celebrating his 70th birthday on 14 November this year, and has has been honoured for his continuous service to the royal family, through a series of special events marking his milestone.
The Queen threw a garden party for Charles earlier in May, and will be organising an extravagant birthday ceremony in November in his honour.
Camilla will also be joining in celebrations, and is set to organise a “very special” evening event three weeks before her husband’s big day.
Prince William and Kate – who is due to return back to royal duties after maternity leave – will be attending the ceremony, which will be held at Buckingham Palace on 25 October.
However, Meghan and Harry will be skipping Camilla’s special event because of a royal mix up.
Charles will be missing his beloved daughter-in-law, who he has built a close relationship with, because of a clash in royal events.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be embarking on a 15-day royal tour, visiting Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga.
Harry will also be hosting the 2018 Invictus games in Sydney, a sporting competition for wounded and injured service personnel.
The royal couple’s tour will end on 31 October, clashing with Charles’ special birthday event.
Meghan and Harry delayed their honeymoon to attend Charles’ garden party in May, aware they would be missing Camila’s special party because of their Australian tour.
A royal source told Vanity Fair: “It’s going to be a very special night and Charles is very much looking forward to it.
“Harry and Meghan can’t be there because they will be overseas. It’s why they were so keen to be at the garden party for Charles back in May.”
Guests at Camilla’s event will witness a night of music, opera, ballet and Shakespearean drama to honour Charles’ commitment to the arts over the years, Vanity Fair’s Katie Nicholl said.
The event will be produced by David Whelton OBE and directed by Greg Doran, artistic director of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Despite missing out on the special event, Meghan and Harry will be be back for Charles’ private birthday party on 14 November, hosted by the Queen at the States Room in Buckingham Palace.
The Prince of Wales will also be honoured with a star-studded line up of magicians and performers in an ITV televised broadcast.
Prince Harry delivered a moving speech at Charles’ birthday party in May, commending his father for his work throughout the years.
Speaking about Charles, Prince Harry said: “His enthusiasm and energy are truly infectious; it has certainly inspired William and I to get involved in issues we care passionately about and to do whatever we can to make a difference.
“In fact, many of the issues William and I now work on are subjects we were introduced to by our father growing up.
“His passion and dedication are remarkable and seeing so many of you here today, I cannot fail but to be in awe of the drive he has had for so many years, to contribute to the enrichment of society both in this country and around the world.”
