The newlyweds will also welcome Princess Mary and her husband Prince Frederik at the Sydney event, of which David Beckham is an ambassador for and is expected to bring children Brooklyn, 19, Romeo, 16, Cruz, 13 and Harper, seven, along to with wife Victoria.

The father-of-four joins a long list of Australians who have previously been announced as ambassadors for the Games, including including Olympic gold medallists Anna Meares and Ian Thorpe.

As for Princess Mary, a new addition to the list of A-list royals, the event for wounded soldiers will mark her second time home in less than a year, the Daily Telegraph reports.

During Christmas last year, The future Queen of Denmark, her husband and four children spent time Down Under having been spotted enjoying the stunning summertime weather at several beaches and parks in Sydney and Tasmania.

The October event will be a first for Meghan as Harry’s new wife after the couple tied the knot in a glamourous Windsor wedding on May 19.

The Invictus Games is the only international sporting event for wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women.

The Games, launched in 2014, use sport to inspire recovery, support rehabilitation and generate a wider understanding and respect of all those who serve their country.

David announced his status as ambassador on social media earlier this year.

In a poignant post, he said that he “couldn’t wait to be a part of the energy and excellence of the Games this year”.

He added: I’ve been lucky enough to meet and work with many serving, veteran and wounded British armed forces personnel over the years and I’ve been humbled by the courage, resilience and spirit shown by each and every one of them.

“The entire Invictus Games team, led by the Duke of Sussex, has achieved remarkable things in such a short space of time, using sport as a powerful force to rehabilitate and unite.”

Last month, former Suits actress Meghan and Prince Harry joined fellow celebrities George Clooney and wife Amal for a secret holiday at their Lake Como mansion in Italy.
