The Royal couple will meet the President and the Taoiseach of Ireland, and will visit key attractions, including Trinity College, the Famine Memorial, the Irish Emigration museum, Dublin and a Gaelic sports festival at Croke Park.

Paul Kelly, chief executive of Failte Ireland, the national tourism development authority of Ireland, has welcomed the visit of the in-demand couple and stated it could bring a substantial boost to Ireland’s tourism economy.

He said: “We are delighted that Meghan and Harry have chosen Ireland for their first trip abroad as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and that they are visiting some of Dublin’s brilliant visitor attractions.

“Their visit is hugely positive for Dublin and Ireland and we hope millions of people worldwide will get a flavour of Irish culture and history.

“With so much media attention on the trip, all eyes will be on Ireland this week, giving us amazing exposure abroad and highlighting our rich and diverse tourism industry, and excellent visitor experiences, to an international audience.”

He said the extra coverage provided by the Royal visit will help to boost businesses in Ireland.

He added: “As the national development authority, Failte Ireland will continue to work with tourism businesses throughout the country to ensure that they can fully capitalise on the afterglow of the visit.”

Pointing specifically to the Royal couple’s visit to the Irish Emigration museum, he added: “We look forward to sharing with them the story of Irish emigration around the globe.”

The enthusiasm for the Royal visit was shared by Neville Idsell, the chairman of the Irish Emigration Museum (EPIC), who expressed his hope that their visit will help spread Irish culture around the world.

Speaking to the Irish Mirror, he said: “It is an honour to be welcoming the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to EPIC.

“We look forward to sharing with them the story of Irish emigration around the globe.

“Their visit is hugely positive for Dublin and Ireland and we hope millions of people worldwide will get a flavour of Irish culture and history.”

Commenting on the tour, Kensington Palace added: “The Royal couple are looking forward to learning more about Ireland’s history and experiencing its rich culture, as well as meeting the people who are shaping the country’s future.”

The two-day tour will be the couple’s first official visit to Ireland since their marriage in May.

The couple are expected to visit DogPatch Labs, which is a start-up hub where they will meet young individuals taking part in free coding lessons.

They will also attend a garden party at the residence of the British ambassador.
