Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will visit the Republic of Ireland from Tuesday, July 10 to Wednesday, July 11, on the request of the Queen.

They visited Northern Ireland in March, but this trip to Dublin will be the first official trip as a married couple.

A statement from Buckingham Palace revealed the aim of the trip is to meet the people of Dublin and visit organisations that are “central to Irish life”.

What will the royal couple do in Ireland?

They will go to a Gaelic sports festival at Croke Park, which is the home of the Gaelic Athletic Association.

Meghan and Harry will then attend a summer’s party at the British Ambassador’s residence, where they will meet people from across Ireland’s arts, sports, military and social enterprise sectors.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will learn about Irish culture when they see the Book of Kells at Trinity College.

The Book of Kells is an illuminated manuscript Gospel book in Latin, containing the four Gospels of the New Testament together with various prefatory texts and tables.

The Palace statement also said: “The Duke and Duchess will also have a moment for reflection at the Famine Memorial, before visiting EPIC, the Irish Emigration Museum, telling the story of the 10 million Irish people who have emigrated across the world.”

Meghan and Harry will also visit DogPatch Labs, which is a co-working space for technology start-ups and they will be able to meet the students attending free coding workshops.

The President of Ireland Michael Higgins will also be paid a visit by the couple, as well as Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.

The couple are due to go to Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga and New Zealand in the Autumn for their first royal tour as a married couple.

They will also be in Sydney in October for the Invictus Games.

Meghan has been busy with royal duties this year already, as she has visited Cheshire with the Queen and also attended her first Royal Ascot last month.

The 36-year-old took a day off from her royal duties at the weekend as was spotted cheering on her husband while he played in a charity polo match.
