The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were photographed looking wildly in love at the Nelson Mandela centenary exhibition at Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall in London today.
As they arrived at the Queen Elizabeth hall on London’s Southbank, they clearly shared a private joke with each other, looking comfortable and collected in each other’s company.
The newlyweds then listened to a speech given by Lord Peter Hain, chair of the Nelson Mandela Centenary Exhibition, an emotional event given the South African revolutionary’s links with the Queen.
Mandela and the Queen built up a firm friendship, with South Africa’s former president calling her “Lizzie” according to his daughter Zindzi Mandela.
The Duke of Sussex also has a long-time affiliation with the heroic former president, after he visited a number of sites associated with Mandela, from his prison cell on Robben Island in 2008 to his offices, where he met his widow Graca Machel, in 2015.
The Royal couple remained close as they inspected the exhibition, which is open to the public and details the life and work of the great leader.
Around 300 people were invited to the opening on Tuesday, including Mandela’s goddaughter Tanya von Ahlefeldt.
Last week, the pair were captured gazing at one another lovingly as they stepped out at a summer party at the British Ambassador’s house as they kicked off their Ireland tour.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex looked at each other lovingly and gazed into each other’s eyes, both with cheeky smiles on their faces
And, although their schedule was packed, the couple found time to share a private, intimate lunch date together at one of the city’s most popular restaurants, Delahunt, on Wednesday.
Meghan and Harry enjoyed a two-course lunch and washed it down with a half pint of Guinness and some Irish coffee – which they shared between them.
