The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new regal cypher depicts both of their initials, which intertwines an M and a H, underneath a coronet.

The monogram, which will now be seen on all official paperwork coming out of Kensington Palace, is in royal blue – a nod to Harry’s late mother Princess Diana.

Royal fans caught a glimpse of the couple’s new monogram on Australian TV show ‘The Today Show’ when presenter Georgie Gardner showed off a letter she had received from Harry and Meghan.

Ms Gardener was lucky enough to receive a thank you note from the duke and duchess after she sent them a picnic blanket as a present for their May Royal Wedding.

The message read: “Dear Georgie, we wanted to write and thank you so much for the incredibly thoughtful wedding gift.

“We’re both delighted that you would think of us during this special time and greatly appreciate your kindness.

“We apologise for the delay in getting this letter to you but as you can hopefully understand it has been a very busy time for us.

“Thank you again for your kind gift. We are incredibly touched. All the best, Harry and Meghan.”

The monogram is very similar to that of Meghan Markle’s own, which as released back in May, featuring a script black ‘M’ with a coronet.

Each member of the Royal Family has his or her own cypher, a type of logo, such as the Queen’s ERII, made from their initials in a tradition dating back to Tudor times.

The couple’s joint royal cypher is exactly the same colour as the duke’s individual monogram.

The crown above the initial appears to be one approved by a Royal Warrant of 1917 for the sons and daughters of the heir apparent.

It also features two crosses patée (a type of Christian cross), four fleurs-de-lys, and two strawberry leaves.

And Prince Harry’s cypher was said to be deliberately chosen to resemble Princess Diana’s in motif and almost the exact same colour.

A Royal aide said: “It’s a very touching way for him to pay tribute to his late mother.”
