Former Strictly Come Dancing star Louise Redknapp has had to drop out of the hugely-anticipated debut of 9 to 5: The Musical after suffering some severe injuries.

The Eternal singer was to have opened the musical with Love Island’s Amber Davies and fellow ex-Strictly contestant Brian Conley at the Savoy Theatre this month, but was injured on Tuesday (January 8) when she fell in the street on the way to rehearsals.

According to The Sun, she has been ordered by doctors to take two months off work after fracturing her wrist and suffering a deep wound on her chin. She will now re-join 9 to 5 later this year.

A spokesperson for the production also said: “We hope Louise will start performances towards the end of March or early April.

“Due to an injury this week, Louise Redknapp has had to temporarily withdraw from performing the role of Violet in 9 to 5: The Musical.

“The recovery time recommended means Louise is no longer able to properly rehearse the show in the remaining time left before opening.

“Together we have made the difficult decision to delay Louise’s start date in the show. We hope that Louise will start performances sometime towards the end of March/early April 2019. Everyone at 9 to 5 wishes Louise a speedy recovery and we look forward to welcoming her back.”

9 to 5: The Musical is currently set to run at the Savoy Theatre from January 28 through August 31. Those seeking refunds due to Louise’s absence can do so at the point of purchase.

The show was to have been Louise’s return to the stage, after previously starring opposite fellow popstar Will Young in Cabaret.
