The pair exchanged smiles with one another and the bustling crowd of spectators as Kate and the Duchess of Sussex, both 36, took to the royal box together for a girls’ day out to watch tennis champ Ms Williams clash with Germany’s Angelique Kerber.
The former Suits actress and wife of Price Harry, who she wed just seven weeks ago in a lavish ceremony at Windsor Castle’s St George’s Chapel, has much to chat about with the mother-of-three as both have a keen interest in the crunch game to take place at 2pm today.
Meghan attended Wimbledon two years ago where she was seen canoodling with Prince Harry during their courtship.
The Duchess is also a close friend of seven-time champion Ms Williams, who she met in 2014.
Ms Williams also attended Meghan’s much-anticipated wedding to Harry on May 19 with her husband Alexis Ohanian.
As for Kate, who broke maternity leave by palling up with Meghan for today’s game, she is a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.
She has in the past commented on her love of the sport and said she has fond memories of attending as a child with her parents Michael and Carole Middleton, and sister Pippa, who this year wed billionaire hedge fund manager James Matthews.
Kate will no doubt be thrilled to attend today’s final after being unable to catch the start of the tournament due to the birth of her new son Prince Louis on April 23.
Though officially she is due back to work in the autumn, today’s is another of a handful of events and engagements Kate has attended despite being on maternity leave.
Meghan is dressed in a blue striped shirt and white trousers with her long locks tied back.
Both Duchesses are meeting former females tennis champions, ball boys and ball girls, learning more about the Championships and their individual experiences at Wimbledon.
Though Kate and Meghan have made numerous public engagements together, this is the first they have attended as a twosome.
Tomorrow, Kate will return with Prince William for the men’s final.
