Did Jim Carrey just deliver a low blow at Louis C.K.? It depends on one’s perspective — and you’re certainly going to need a sense of perspective to decipher his latest artwork.
Carrey weighed in on Louis C.K. with his latest artwork on Thursday, taking aim at the comedian — who’s been working his way back toward the spotlight after suffering career blows due to a sexual misconduct scandal — for a recent joke the comedian made about survivors of the Parkland, Florida high school shooting.
In leaked audio of Louis C.K.’s performance at New York City’s Comedy Cellar, the comedian groused about the survivors of the school shooting.
“They testify in front of Congress, these kids? What are they doing?” C.K. said of the Parkland students. “Because you went to a high school where kids got shot? Why does that mean I have to listen to you?… You didn’t get shot, you pushed some fat kid in the way, and now I’ve gotta listen to you talking?”
Carrey’s cartoon in response aimed to show just how small a man he thinks C.K. is.
“Louie can’t C. K?” Carrey wrote of the artwork, which depicts Parkland shooting survivor Emma Gonzalez.
“Kidding” star Carrey noted that the cartoon was “drawn to scale,” providing a clue regarding the artwork’s punchline.
While many people in the comments section struggled to detect the joke in Carrey’s latest artwork, keen-eyed observers noted a tiny depiction of Louis C.K. in silhouette, standing in front of a microphone. Even keener-eyed observers noted a protrusion sprouting from the comedian’s crotch — a seeming nod to Louis C.K.’s 2017 admission that he had masturbated in front of or asking to masturbate in front of multiple women.
Sure, it may take a while to unearth Carrey’s joke — but the payoff is worth it.
Carrey should feel free to give himself a hand on this one — just not like, you know…
