Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade welcomed a baby girl yesterday, November 7, via surrogate. The actress shared the happy news on social media today, with sweet photos of her and Wade cradling their new addition. This marks the couple’s first child together. The baby’s name hasn’t been announced yet.
“A lovely day. We are sleepless and delirious but so excited to share that our miracle baby arrived last night via surrogate and 11/7 will forever be etched in our hearts as the loveliest of all the lovely days. Welcome to the party sweet girl!” Union wrote in a message on Twitter. She also quoted lyrics from Bill Withers’ “Lovely Day.”

This marks Union’s first child and Wade’s fourth, following his three sons Zaire, Zavier and Zion from previous relationships. The actress has taken care of them like her own children. “It was an unexpected gift but probably the biggest thing that changed me,” she previously told BAZAAR.com of her relationship with her stepsons.
Union also opened up about her struggle to have a baby in her book, We’re Going to Need More Wine, which was published last year. “I have had eight or nine miscarriages,” she wrote. “For three years, my body has been a prisoner of trying to get pregnant — I’ve either been about to go into an IVF cycle, in the middle of an IVF cycle, or coming out of an IVF cycle.”
However, she said that she and Wade, whom she married in 2014, “remain bursting with love and ready to do anything to meet the child we’ve both dreamed of.” Now, it seems that dream has finally come true.
