A Twitter user named Julie noticed the Queen’s subtle choice of jewellery on the day the US President landed in the UK.

She said: “Arrival day was the one that got the most attention. That day, she wore the brooch the Obamas gave her on their last visit to England.

“That by itself is amusing enough. She wore a brooch the Obamas gave her. But it gets better.

“It’s not an American brooch, any would be funny.

“She chose this one. This one was purchased out-of-pocket by Michelle and Barack Obama and given to her as a personal gift.”

The Queen wore her American State Visit brooch that was gifted to her by Trump’s predecessor on the first day of the incumbent’s visit but was not seen wearing it when she met the US leader the following day.

Instead she opted for a palm leaf brooch, the same worn by the Queen Mother at the funeral of King George VI.

The President touched down in the UK on July 12 with his wife Melania.

Elizabeth II wore the brooch gifted by the Obamas on the same day while she met with two religious leaders at Windsor Castle.

The piece of jewellery was pinned to a floral print dress.

Her Majesty welcomed the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, and Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar to the historic grounds.

The green flower brooch is understood to have been purchased by the Obamas from the Tiny Jewel Box store in Washington DC.

It was gifted to Her Majesty on the former president’s state visit to Britain in 2011.

The brooch is made from 14-karat yellow gold and is decorated with diamonds.

The Obamas reportedly picked out the gift personally.

Donald Trump has consistently lambasted his predecessor and has reversed a number of his policies since taking office.

The Republican firebrand historically pulled the US from the Iran nuclear deal earlier this year that Barack Obama helped put together.

On Friday the Queen met with Donald and Melania Trump at Windsor Castle.

Following the encounter, the President described Her Majesty as a “fantastic woman” during an interview with Piers Morgan.

Express.co.uk has reached out to Kensington Palace for comment on the matter.
