Creed’s back in the ring and he’s about to take another swing.

Thirty-three years after Rocky IV, Creed is going to square off against Drago … with a twist.

In the new trailer for Creed II, Michael B. Jordan returns as Adonis Creed, but this time he’s taking on Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu), the son of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) a.k.a. the man who killed Creed’s father in the boxing ring in Rocky IV and basically the best Rocky villain in the series’ history.

Written and directed by Ryan Coogler (Black Panther), Creed reset the Rocky franchise in spectacular fashion when it hit theatres in 2015. Sylvester Stallone won a Golden Globe and was nominated for an Oscar for his comeback as the character and the film went on to gross over $170 million worldwide.

In the sequel, written by Stallone and Cheo Hodari Coker and directed by Steven Caple Jr., Creed wants to “rewrite history” and avenge his dad’s death at the hands of the Siberian Express.

But Rocky warns him: “You got everything to lose. This guy has got nothing to lose.”

“I ain’t got a choice,” Creed replies.

Set to Kendrick Lamar’s DNA, the trailer shows Creed training and getting life advice from Rocky, but in the final frame we get a glimpse of the fearsome new Drago, and then a thunderous punch connecting with Creed’s jaw. Ouch!

Creed II will mark the eighth time Stallone is playing the Rocky character. The 1976 original won two Oscars for Best Picture and Director. Tessa Thompson returns as Creed’s love interest Bianca and Wood Harris and Phylicia Rashad also star.

The Sun was on the set of the film in Philadelphia last month, so expect plenty of coverage before the film hits theatres on Nov. 21.
