Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall is celebrating her 71st birthday today.
She will be spending her birthday visiting St Mary’s, the largest island on the Isles of Scilly, to open the newly improved quayside.
Camilla will also tour the local produce market on the island today and meet community groups, including the Sailing Club.
The Duchess is currently in the middle of an annual tour of Cornwall with her husband Prince Charles.
They will visit local businesses during their trip, including artisan food and drink producers and also eco-clothing company Finisterre.
The royal couple had a busy first day yesterday as they paid a visit to Fowey, St Agnes and Lostwithiel, where they met people involved with St Agnes based charity Surfers Against Sewage and Plastic Free Penzance.
The Duchess and Duke of Cornwall regularly visit their Duchy and attended the Royal Cornwall Show only last month.
Who is Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall?
Camilla is the second wife of Charles, Prince of Wales, who is the heir to the British throne.
Instead of using the title Princess of Wales, which was used by Charles’ first wife Diana Spencer, Camilla is known by her husband’s secondary destination.
In Scotland, she is also referred to as the Duchess of Rothesay.
She was born Camilla Rosemary Shand on July 17, 1947 and is the eldest child of Major Bruce Shand and his wife Rosalind Cubitt, the daughter of Roland Cubitt, 3rd Baron Ashcombe.
The Duchess grew up in East Sussex and South Kensington and was educated in England, Switzerland and France.
Camilla married British Army officer Andrew Parker Bowles in 1973 and they have two children together.
However, the pair divorced in 1995.
She married Prince Charles in a civil marriage at Windsor Guildhall, followed by a televised Anglican blessing by the Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, at St George’s Chapel, at Windsor Castle.
