Comedian and actress Amy Schumer has been forced to cancel shows in Texas after being hospitalised with severe morning sickness.
The 37-year-old Trainwreck star apologised to fans on social media, sharing a picture of herself in a hospital bed.
“Texas I am deeply sorry,” she wrote. “I have been really looking forward to these shows. I have to reschedule. I am in the hospital.”
Schumer, who announced last month that she was expecting her first child with husband Chris Fischer, said she is suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), a severe form of morning sickness.
HG, which is characterised by sustained and excessive nausea and vomiting, affects up to two per cent of pregnant women. Kate Middleton was treated for HG in all three of her pregnancies.
“I’m fine,” Schumer said. “Baby’s fine but everyone who says the 2nd trimester is better is not telling the full story. I’ve been even more ill this trimester… Very lucky to be pregnant but this is some b…….”
The comedian and Fischer tied the knot on the beach in Malibu, California in February after dating for just a few months.
They were introduced by Schumer’s assistant, who happens to be the chef and author’s sister.
