The Duchess of Sussex launched her new cookbook Together: Our Community cookbook, at Kensington Palace, inspired by her time helping the women survivors of the Grenfell Tower disaster to host a community kitchen to help feed those displaced by the fire.
At the launch, the elegant Duchess was spotted wearing a sleek black top and matching skirt designed by Misha Nonoo – a prominent designer who was credited as being partially responsible for setting Meghan up with her husband, Prince Harry, who she wed in May of this year.
The Duchess paired the pleated mini-length skirt, which adheres to strict royal style protocols, with a black turtleneck jumper and a blue coat.
But days later, Princess Beatrice, 26, wore the exact same Misha Nonoo skirt while attending a Big Change charity event in Manchester on Friday.
In similar style to Meghan, the daughter of Sarah Ferguson the Duchess of York, also paired the black top and skirt ensemble with a beige overcoat.
So was Beatrice echoing Meghan – or was Meghan’s choice just a wise nod to the stylish but conservative dress-code of the royal family.
Princess Beatrice not only echoed the Duchess’ acute sense of style, but also her hands-on approach to charity work.
In June, celebrity stylist Rochelle White told the Daily Mail that Meghan, the latest addition to the modernised monarchy, had a positive influence over Beatrice’s sense of style
The similarities come despite the young royal being featured on the cover of magazines such as Vogue alongside her sister, Princess Eugenie.
She also said that Meghan had marked her own influence on British fashion, with Beatrice also keen to follow in the Duchess’ footsteps.
Mrs White said: “Beatrice has definitely been taking notes on the royal fashion of Meghan.
“She has been a big influence on fashion, trends and style and I think she has seen the power in that.
“This has probably made her look at her own fashion and style choices.
“Looking at her, she has grown into a more sophisticated, trendy style.
“The styles she is choosing now are much more fashionable and on trend. I think they look much more flattering for her.
“I think she is coming into her own with her fashion and style choices and is great to see. This could open up the door for her.”
Princess Eugenie is due to wed her fiancée Jack Brooksbank in October, in a wedding ceremony at Windsor Castle that has regularly been compared to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s fairytale day.
However, in a reversal of leading the style trends, all attendees on the big day are required to adhere to a strict dress code, including Meghan and her sister-in-law, Kate the Duchess of Cambridge.
The compulsory code says that all attendees must wear a hat to the wedding, a nod to the York sisters’ sense of style and fashion.
All male attendees must also rock morning suits, which Prince Harry and his brother, Prince William are expected to wear.
And Royal ladies are expected to wear more conservative dresses according to royal fashion etiquette – and partly because Eugenie’s ceremony is being held in a church.
