She is set to tie the knot with Mr Brooksbank on October 12 at St George’s Chapel in Windsor, and the BBC has already announced the wedding will not be broadcast live, reportedly due to fears of an insufficient number of viewers.
The BBC nevertheless announced there will be “news coverage of the wedding across our service”.
Dickie Arbiter, royal expert, commented on the discrepancy, saying: “Harry is the son of the future King, the brother of the future King, and the uncle of the future King. Eugenie isn’t.”
A source close to Princess Eugenie nevertheless stated that the Duke and Duchess of York feel their daughter deserves “her moment in the spotlight”, with no expense spared on her wedding.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, they said: “The feeling among the Yorks is that she deserves her moment in the spotlight and a big Royal wedding with all the frills.”
Reports also indicate that Princess Eugenie and Mr Brooksbank had already begun discussing their engagement in August 2016, the same time that Prince Harry and Meghan were dating.
The announcement was nevertheless delayed after engagement rumours for Prince Harry and Meghan began to surface ahead of their November announcement.
The insider commented on the overlap, saying: “It’s my understanding that Eugenie and Jack decided some time ago that they wanted to get married, and there was some talk about a wedding in 2017, but they had to wait for Harry to go first.”
Prince Harry is sixth in line to the throne, while Princess Eugenie is only ninth, and Royal protocol stipulated that Prince Harry’s wedding took precedence.
Princess Eugenie was reportedly unfazed by the delay, and maintains a close relationship with her cousin.
The Royal insider said: “There are no bad feelings at all.
“Eugenie is very close to Harry, and she knows how the system works.”
They added that Princess Eugenie is “hugely looking forward to her wedding day”, and is “cool as a cucumber” ahead of the ceremony.
The wedding is also set to be a grand affair despite the absence of television cameras, and will have a larger attendance than Meghan and Harry’s nuptials in May.
The couple have invited over 850 friends and family to the wedding, along with 1,200 members of the public who will be able to watch the processions from inside the grounds of Windsor Castle.
A number of A-list celebrities will also be in attendance at the event, and the couple are believed to have invited Robbie Williams, Ellie Goulding, James Blunt, Sir Elton John, and George Clooney.
The Queen will host a champagne reception in St George’s Hall directly following the ceremony, before the Duke and Duchess of York host a party at the family home, Royal Lodge.
Princess Eugenie’s mother, the Duchess of York, has also expressed her excitement about the upcoming nuptials, and revealed the modern approach Eugenie and Jack are taking in regards to the big day.
Speaking on BBC’s The One Show, she said: “She is so sorted. She knows exactly what she wants.
“Jack and her are very contemporary, they are very inclusive.
“They are all about love and they want this wedding to be about that – to include everybody, to really absorb the love they have for each other with everybody else.”
