Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William’s two children have a fascination for the outdoors and often immerse themselves in activities that cater to their curious nature.
Charlotte is known to love for horse riding, and started taking lessons in the sport when she was just two years old.
Meanwhile, George is fascinated by aviation and could not contain his excitement when his father, William, took him to see a helicopter a day before his fourth birthday.
Despite having very different interests, the two royals share a favourite past time – reading.
George and Charlotte were seen carrying copies of their favourite books at Trooping The Colour 2018, as the bookworms were caught strolling into Buckingham Palace’s balcony clutching the children’s titles.
Prince William recently revealed his children’s favourite book is in fact The Gruffalo, written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler.
The classic British children’s book depicts a story of a mouse who takes a walk in a European forest and during his journey, comes across dangerous animals who want to eat it. The cunning mouse then uses clever tricks to evade danger.
The book, released in 1999, has sold over 13 million copies world wide, and has even been made into an Oscar nominated animated film.
The story has also been developed into plays at the West End and Broadway.
William met with Ms Donaldson and Mr Scheffler at Tusk Trust event held at his home in Kensington Palace, and revealed how their book was George’s and Charlotte’s favourite read.
He told them: “I know who you are. It’s a big hit in our household, The Gruffalo.”
Last week, 5-year-old George returned back to St Thomas’s Battersea school to start Year One.
The £17,604-a-year school has a broad curriculum focusing on academics and the arts, including ballet and swimming lessons for all its students.
The school’s website said dance lessons “develops students’ physical skills, stamina, creativity, expression and musicality, using a range of sounds and musical styles.
“This strong foundation prepares students for a successful transition to Ballet and other dance genres.”
Princess Charlotte was also due to return back to Willcocks Nursery school last week.
The private nursery costs £15,150 a year per child if pupils attend morning and afternoon lessons, and was also rated “Outstanding” by OFSTED.
OFSTED’s latest report on the nursery wrote: “Children actively participate in activities that relate to all areas of learning.
“Topic themes include outings in the local community and visitors to the nursery.
“This enables children to gain first hand experiences that effectively consolidate their learning.”
