And a royal source said the reason for the problems was the The Prince of Wales “just doesn’t get on” with William, 36, and Harry, 33.

The source told US website the Daily Beast: “They are very different people and they just don’t get on. It’s as simple as that.

“They rarely see each other outside of official business.”

The heir to the throne “hates” William and Harry’s “emoting” in public, the source claimed.

The brothers are well known for speaking about issues such as their mother Princess Diana’s death and mental health.

William and Harry opened up about their mothers death in a 2017 BBC documentary.

Harry said: “I think it’s never going to be easy for the two of us to talk about our mother, but 20 years on seems like a good time to remind people of the difference that she made not just to the royal family but also to the world.”

William said they wanted to “stand up for her name”.

He said: “We feel we at least owe her 20 years on to stand up for her name and remind everybody of the character and person that she was.”

However, the claims from the source fly in the face of public shows of affection by the brothers towards their father.

Both young princes have publicly spoken in glowing terms of their father, including of Prince Charles’ support following Diana’s death.

Harry said: “One of the hardest things for a parent to have to do is to tell your children that your other parent has died.

“How you deal with that I don’t know. But, you know, he was there for us.

“He was the one out of two left and he tried to do his best and to make sure that we were protected and looked after.

“But, you know, he was going through the same grieving process as well.”

Diana and Charles divorced in 1996, after separating four years earlier. Diana died in a car crash in France in Paris in August 1997.

And Harry also gave a heartwarming speech on his dad’s birthday in May this year.

Harry said: ”Who has not come away from a meeting with my father, their head spinning with a dozen new ideas which he wants to get underway urgently, having met a group of people or read something that has fired his imagination and started the flow of ideas.

“His enthusiasm and energy are truly infectious; it has certainly inspired William and I to get involved in issues we care passionately about and to do whatever we can to make a difference.

“In fact, many of the issues William and I now work on are subjects we were introduced to by our father growing up.
