Meghan is expected to visit her mother, Doria Ragland, in Los Angele, California.
However, she is said to have no intentions to see her father, Thomas Markle, who lives just 150 miles away in Rosarito, Mexico.
Ms Ragland was the only member of Meghan’s family who attended her Royal Wedding to Prince Harry in May after her father pulled out of ceremony.
Mr Markle was expected to walk his daughter down the aisle but he later informed Meghan he was still recovering from heart surgery and would not be attending.
In recent months Mr Markle has given interviews criticising the Royal Family and has urged both his daughter and Prince Harry to speak to him, after three months of no contact.
Mr Markle and Meghan have not spoken since her wedding day on May 19, after the former Hoolywood light was exposed for staging photos for the paparazzi.
A royal source told the Daily Mirror: “The past few weeks will no doubt have been incredibly stressful for Meghan and no one wants this saga to continue for her.
“Hopefully she can find some way of seeking a resolution with her father but going back to her roots for a few days is exactly what she needs right now.
“Time will tell what the process for any type of relationship may be but as long as they keep hurting her, it becomes more and more unlikely they will be able to have any type of relationship.”
Mr Markle has admitted he made a “terrible mistake” for staging paparazzi photos, with Prince Harry confronting his father-in-law about the incident during a phone call just days before his wedding to Meghan.
Mr Markle told the Mail on Sunday: “Prince Harry said, ‘if you’d listened to me none of this would have happened’, meaning I shouldn’t have co-operated with the paparazzi. And he’s completely right. I made a terrible mistake which I have paid for ever since.”
Mr Markle previously worked as a Hollywood lighting director but is now retired.
It comes after rumours have been circulating that he didn’t attend his daughter’s first wedding to Hollywood director, Trevor Engelson, in 2011.
Mr Markle has vehemently denied the accusations.
