Michael Markle, a former US diplomat, told The Mirror of his surprise at not receiving an invite to the wedding, saying: “I thought I would. But anyhow, I didn’t hear from her.”

When asked if he could have replaced Ms Markle’s father and walked her down the aisle, after he pulled out due to health reasons, he replied: “Sure, I could have, if it was co-ordinated.

“Yes I would have done it.”

Ms Markle was accompanied down the aisle on 19 May in Windsor by Prince Charles, now her father-in-law.

Michael Markle suggested to The Mirror the the Royal Family may have played a role in his lack of invite, saying: “I don’t know how much the Royal Family had influence on her or not.

“They didn’t accept anyone else so they couldn’t make an exception for me.”

He added that he had “done more for her” than anyone else.

This included using his diplomatic contacts to help Ms Markle secure an internship at the American Embassy in Argentina earlier in her life.

Before the wedding he commented: “I don’t understand why she been so indifferent towards me. It’s uncalled for.

“I helped her out and I didn’t ask for anything in return.”

Currently Michael Michael lives in a retirement trailer park in Palm Bay, Florida.

Ms Markle and other members of the Royal Family currently have a tense relationship with several members of the now Duchess of Sussex’s close family.

Thomas Markle, Ms Markle’s father, recently described the Royal Family as “cult-like – like Scientology”.

Ms Markle reportedly hasn’t spoken to her father, either in person or by telephone, since the wedding.

Before the royal wedding it was claimed that he had been paid to stage paparazzi photos.

Meanwhile Meghan Markle’s sister, Samantha, is said to be working on a tell all book titled ‘In The Shadows Of The Duchess.”
