The Duchess of Cambridge was seen attending several royal events, despite being on maternity leave – something she has never done after giving birth to Prince George in 2013 and Princess Charlotte in 2015.
Less than a month after Prince Louis was born, Kate attended Meghan and Harry’s wedding in May, helping her two oldest children George, five, and Charlotte, four, who were assigned as pageboy and bridesmaid for the ceremony.
Kate attending the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding saw her briefly return to royal duties despite being on maternity leave, even if it was more a family event.
This was different with her two other children – when George was born, Kate was out of the public eye for six weeks, while with Charlotte, she was not seen on royal duty for at least two months.
The Duchess maternity leave with Louis is also notably longer compared to the ones she took with George and Charlotte.
The mother-of-three declared her last official engagement in March, stating that raising her children would be her top priority.
However, royal fans were taken by surprise after the Duchess stepped back into the spotlight again in April, attending the Trooping the Colour in June and Louis’ christening last month.
Kate and her two children, George and Charlotte, were also seen at a couple of events, including their father Prince William’s charity polo match in June.
The Duchess attended to her little ones, who were playful as ever, frolicking about in fields of grass as their mother constantly chased after them while wearing wedges.
Kate and William are known for their hands on style of parenting, and try to keep their young ones out of the spotlight when they can to ensure their children have as much of a normal upbringing as possible.
The family-of-five are now residing at their country home, Anmer hall, in Norfolk where George and Charlotte spent their early beginnings.
The Cambridge family home, located near Queen Elizabeth II’s Sandringham House, is a 10-bedroom property with a private swimming pool and tennis court – ideal for the Cambridge’s to spend their summer months together, away from the public eye.
Kate has constantly expressed her joy in spending time with her children, and said she loves taking part in activities with George and Charlotte, such as making pizza dough and playing outside.
The Duchess has said she enjoys “simple family moments”, and cherishes them the most.
In an open letter to support Children’s Hospice Week in May, Kate wrote:: “Spending quality time together is such an important aspect of family life and for me, as a mother, it is the simple family moments like playing outside together that I cherish.”
