After ignoring Prince Harry’s advice not to speak to the press, recluse Mr Markle said the subsequent media circus that followed has caused him to long for things to go back to the way they were.
He said: “I’m not mad at Harry.
“I’m not mad at Meghan. I love them.
“I wish them well.”
He added: “But as for the rest of it, f*** it. I’m done.”
Mr Markle’s remarks come in what he has called the last of a series of damaging interviews given to the press on the back of advice from Harry, the son-in-law he has never met, not to.
Mr Markle was embroiled in a shocking scandal that saw him fake a number of photos with the paparazzi for the eye-watering sum of £100,000, which resulted in him pulling out of the May 19 royal wedding, claims he suffered a heart attack and the estrangement from his daughter, 37.
He told the Mail on Sunday he has not spoken to the royal couple in “a few months” due to the exposé and the interviews that followed.
He said the the immediate aftermath of the pictures that show him pretending to get in shape and reading up on the royal family in the run-up to the wedding, he spoke to Harry from his hospital bed and hung up on the prince after a heated exchange.
Mr Markle said: “Harry told me that I should never go to the press.
“That it would end in tears.
“He said, ‘They will eat you alive’.
“He was right.”
Speaking of the Duke of Sussex’s follow-up call after he had been informed of the scandal, Mr Markle said the prince told him: “If you had listened to me this would never have happened.”
To which Mr Markle said he replied: “Maybe it would be better for you guys if I was dead… then you could pretend to be sad.”
Mr Markle then claims he slammed the phone down on Prince Harry.
Before Prince Harry and former Suits actress Meghan announced their engagement, Thomas Markle lived as a recluse in Rosarito, Mexico.
He worked as a television lighting director and was even nominated for an Emmy award.
