In a rare interview with BBC The One Show on Friday, Sarah was asked whether she would make a good grandmother, and she replied saying: “Excellent – I used to write children’s books, and I am a child, I haven’t grown up.”

The mother-of-two appeared on the BBC programme to raise awareness for her two charities, Street Child and Children in Crisis, but could not help reveal her excitement for her daughter Eugenie’s big day.

Sarah also spoke about her close relationship with her future son-in-law, Jack Brooksbank, and said she would make “the best” mother-in-law.

The Duchess said: “The good news is Jack also works as the European Manager for Casamigos Tequila, so I am perfect.”

Speaking about the couple’s wedding plans, Sarah spilled on some details ahead of Eugenie and Jack’s big day, saying that the pair are “very contemporary” and are “all about love” and want the wedding to encompass that.

She said: “Eugenie is very controlled – she is so sorted. She knows exactly what she wants.

“Jack and Eugenie are very contemporary, they are very inclusive, and they are all about love, and they want this wedding to be about that – to include everybody and to really absorb the love they have for each other with everybody else.”

The Duchess of York revealed she has not selected her wedding outfit yet, admitting she was too busy helping organise and plan her daughter’s wedding procedures.

Sarah also said that she will get emotional watching Eugenie walk down the aisle, saying that she “understand why mothers cry at weddings now”.

She said: “I do understand why mothers cry at weddings now. All my life I thought, ‘Oh, what’s she crying for?’ It’s lovely, it’s a great day.”

After the interview, the Duchess took to Instagram to post a photo of her with BBC The One Show presenters, Alex Jones and Michael Ball.

She wrote: “Big gratitude to @BBCTheOneShow for having Tom Dannatt and I to talk about our charity @streetchilduk and how we can help some of the 121 million children in the world who don’t have the chance of an education.”

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank will marry in St George’s Chapel in Windsor on October 12.
