The 73-year-old retired lighting director dropped the bombshell in an explosive interview where he revealed he has not taken drugs in more than 20 years.
Mr Markle said: “I don’t do drugs now, haven’t for more than 20 years.”
His shocking admission comes after he was previously accused of having a drinking problem by X factor judge Sharon Osbourne.
But Mr Markle hit back at the claims, saying he only likes to drink wine occasionally with his dinner.
He told the Mail on Sunday: “I hardly drink at all, just a little wine with my dinner, nothing much. I don’t do drugs, haven’t for more than 20 years.
“I’ve been seen carrying a six-pack of beer and they say I’ve a drinking problem.
“I regularly buy a six-pack for the guys on the guard gate because they’re stuck in a hot shack for hours each day and could use a cold one. I don’t drink beer at all.”
A source close to Meghan Markle’s father Mr Markle said he took drugs to cope with the pressures of Hollywood while working as a lighting director.
They claimed taking drugs was “part and parcel” of the industry Mr Markle was working in.
The source told The Mirror: “After a while, such long hours take their toll and Tom would use drugs that helped him work for longer. Coffee just didn’t cut it.”
The confession comes at the same time Mr Markle launched an astonishing attack on the Royal Family – where he even admitted he doesn’t care if Prince Harry never speaks to him again.
In his latest rant, Mr Markle accused the Duchess of Sussex, 36, of cutting him out of her life and claimed the Royal Family were trying to “silence” him.
He even dragged Princess Diana into the row by saying the late princess would have “loathed” the way he has been treated.
Mr Markle said: “I tell you, I’ve just about reached my limit with Meghan and the Royal Family.
“They want me to be silent, they want me to just go away. But I won’t be silenced. I refuse to stay quiet.
“They have Meghan treating her father in a way that Harry’s mother Princess Diana would have loathed.
“That’s not what Diana stood for. Princess Diana is credited with changing the Royal Family but she wasn’t perfect.
“She was still very much one of them. I think Meghan’s the one who’ll bring them into the 21st century, if they’ll let her.”
