Posting then photos on her Instagram page for her 269,000 followers, Eugenie wrote: “Jack and I are excited to be able to invite people to watch our wedding inside the Precinct of Windsor Castle.”

The pictures show Princess Eugenie 28, lovingly smiling at Jack, 31, at a recent event they attended together, while the other shows them strolling through the countryside from behind with their arms wrapped around each other.

The news that Eugenie and Jack would be inviting members of the public to the precincts of Windsor Castle on October 12 was initially made on Wednesday via the Royal Family’s social media accounts.

It read: “Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank would like to invite members of the public to join their wedding on 12 October 2018, to attend inside the Precincts of Windsor Castle.

“Members of the public who would like to attend can fill in an application form.

“1,200 members of the public will be able to view the arrival of the congregation and members of the Royal Family, listen to a live broadcast of the marriage service and watch the start of the procession as the couple depart at the end of the Wedding ceremony.”

Those wishing to attend can apply for up to four tickets via the royal Family’s official website, www.royal.uk, from August 8, with successful applicants notified by post in September.

But there are conditions: potential guests have to be over five years old, and applicants must be living in the UK with a postal address.

Charities and children from local schools attended by Eugenie will be invited to the royal nuptials.

Eugenie and long-term partner Jack will have the ceremony at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle – the same location where her cousin Prince Harry married Meghan Markle in May.

Meghan and Harry also invited members of the public to their nuptials earlier this year, welcoming a staggering 2,640 people into the grounds of Windsor Castle.

This figure included 1,200 people selected by regional Lord Lieutenant offices for people who had “shown strong leadership and those who have served their communities”.

With their wedding set to be more low-key than that of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Eugenie and Jack have invited a more modest 1,200 members of the public to the wedding.

Despite not being a working royal and having no formal obligation to do so, Princess Eugenie will also embark on a carriage procession with Jack following the service.

Following in Meghan and Harry’s footsteps the procession will go through part of Windsor High Street and through the grounds of Windsor Castle.

Eugenie and Jack’s engagement was announced in January – shortly after the businessman proposed during a romantic holiday in Nicaragua near the Caribbean.
