The outspoken X Factor judge was talking on the US panel show The Talk when she claimed Mr Markle should “get clean”.
She said: “It is so obvious that you have a bad drinking problem. And it’s obvious that over the last few years, you haven’t been close with your daughter.
“So all of this “we were, we used to be”, it’s like… nah.
“Get yourself clean and sober and then come back.
“Just be happy for your daughter. Let her live her life.
“She is so dignified you should try to give a little bit of that dignity for her.”
Sharon, 65, said Meghan, 36, must “feel so humiliated, so embarrassed by her father”, and delivering one final blow, she said: “He’s the last person she’d tell about being pregnant”.
Now Mr Markle’s friends have jumped to the defence of the retired lighting director, by insisting he doesn’t have a drinking problem, only occasionally having a glass of wine with a meal.
A fried told The Sun: “He’s in shock about these claims.
“It’s totally untrue and he’s been through enough with his recent health issues without people making these sorts of allegations.
“He’s livid. Utterly furious. Sharon Osbourne doesn’t know him at all. How dare she say these things.”
It comes after Meghan Markle’s half sister, Samantha Markle launched an extraordinary attack on the Duchess of Sussex warning her if her father dies “it’s on you Meg”.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly not had any contact with the retired lighting director since his bombshell interview with Good Morning Britain.
Mr Markle claimed the Royal Family have distanced themselves since he opened up about Prince Harry’s political views in an interview with Piers Morgan.
