Royal fans were sent into a frenzy when Kate and Meghan attended together the women’s final at Wimbledon on Saturday.

The pair seemed very much on amicable terms as they laughed at each other’s jokes and chatted during the match.

But according to veteran royal photographer Mark Stewart, a closer look to the afternoon the Duchesses spent together can reveal a lot more about their relationship.

Speaking about Meghan, he told People: “She very much let Kate take the lead.”

The photographer argued Prince Harry’s wife is mastering the art of being a royal by learning from Kate.

Debunking any suggestion there could be a rivalry between the sisters-in-law, he added: “There was no rivalry.

“It shows how well Meghan has adapted as she is aware that Kate will be Queen one day and her position is different.”

The Duchesses arrived together at Wimbledon.

Before the match, they met with former female tennis champions and spoke to ball girls and boys and junior players.

Tia Carter, 11, who performed the coin toss before the ladies’ singles final, said she was both excited and nervous to meet the Duchesses.

She said: “Meghan asked how old I was, and what I was doing today.

“I told her I will be performing the coin toss and she said ‘so I will be seeing you later’.”

They later entered the stadium to watch the final, with Meghan remaining a few steps behind Kate while making their way to the royal box.

This was the pair’s first engagement without their husbands, Prince William and Prince Harry.

The Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex watched Meghan’s friend Serena Willams miss out on her eighth Wimbledon title as she played against Germany’s Angelique Kerber.

Ms Williams told reporters about her “wonderful” friendship with Meghan.

During the post-match press conferencethe tennis ace said: “Every year for a couple years she comes out to Wimbledon and has supported me.

“Now she’s supporting me in a different role, but our friendship is still exactly the same.”
