The Royal couple are planning a whirlwind tour of the US for spring 2019 according to US Weekly, which may encompass destinations including Washington DC, New York and California.
A Royal source commented to US weekly about the visit, stating: “Meghan and Harry want to solidify ties between the UK and the US.
“They want to highlight and foster these relationships.”
Details of the tour are not yet finalised, and the in-demand couple are yet to decide on destinations and venues.
However the source noted the couple may visit Barack and Michelle Obama’s foundation in Chicago, stating the “President and Mrs Obama have been stalwart supporters”.
The duo may also visit tech entrepreneurs in San Francisco, with the source noting: “They will meet with CEOs and female tech entrepreneurs to encourage their involvement in the industry.”
News of the Royal couple’s potential visit also drew attention from Canada due to the Duchess’ close connection to the country after living in Toronto for numerous years while starring in the hit TV series Suits.
The source added: “The Canadian Foreign Office has heard about the tour and would love to have them stop there.
“This may very well become a North American tour.”
Kensington Palace is yet to confirm the visit.
Meghan and Harry embarked on their first overseas tour as a married couple this month when they visited Dublin.
The couple visited iconic sites including Trinity College, Croke Park and EPIC, the Irish Emigration Museum.
They were warmly welcomed by Dublin residents, with Caroline Bates saying to the Mail: “Meghan really took her time and looked us in the eye, she was really nice.
“She’s a breath of fresh air in the Royal family.”
Heather Nicell added: “Meghan is a great role model for women, she is very likeable and relatable.”
The Royal couple are also due to embark on a whirlwind tour of Australia in October in order to attend the Invictus Games which are taking place in Sydney.
The sports competition was founded by Prince Harry and provides support for injured servicemen and women.
The couple will stop off at numerous destinations in Australia, along with visits to Tonga, Fiji and New Zealand.
Meghan and Harry are keen to increase their engagement with Commonwealth nations after the Prince took on the role of Commonwealth youth ambassador in April.
