Mesmerising archive footage has been dusted off showing Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson having fun and gossiping together in Wimbledon’s royal box in 1988.
In the captivating images, nine years before Diana’s death, the People’s Princess looks candidly towards the Duchess of York who leans across another woman to whisper something seemingly shocking to the late royal.
In the picture, a 21-year-old Diana gives her pal a stunned look following whatever her royal counterpart told her while shielding her mouth with her hand.
In another black and white picture, the Princess of Wales pulls the Duchess in for a warm embrace as she takes her seat for the match.
In the pictures Diana wore a light-coloured blazer while the Duchess and former wife of Prince Andrew is dressed in a dark dress, her flame-coloured hair clipped back to show of a pair of sparking earrings.
Diana’s short, blonde hair is combed back to reveal hooped earrings.
She compliments her outfit with a spotted shirt that resembles her would-be daughter-in-law Kate’s dress worn today at the match she attended with Meghan.
Meghan opted for a striped oversized Ralph Lauren shirt and white culottes teamed with a straw hat similar to the one she wore two years ago to the tournament while being wooed by Prince Harry.
Like Diana and Sarah, who divorced from Prince Andrew in 1996 – a year before Diana was killed in a Paris car accident – Kate and Meghan appeared chummy in the royal box as they chatted and giggled together.
Former actress Meghan displayed an array of facial expressions as she entertained Kate, seen chucking at her antics.
The two will today see Meghan’s pal Serena Williams clash with Germany’s Angelique Kerber in the women’s singles final.
The ex Suits actress met Williams in 2014 and invited the tennis champ to her May 19 wedding to Prince Harry in Windsor.
Williams brought her husband Alexis Ohanian along to the event held at St George’s Chapel.
Though Kate and Meghan have made numerous public engagements together, this is the first they have attended as a twosome.
Tomorrow, Kate will return with Prince William for the men’s final.
